Preparation
Reference should be made to the instructions contained in the technical data sheet for the screed being applied.
Application
Shake the container well before use. Dilute if required (refer to system notes below) Apply the primer evenly, using a brush or broom, over the sound, clean and dust-free surface and leave to dry to a clear thin film.
Slurry Priming
A most effective primer for all cement-based adhesives and screeds, internally and externally, is to brush tightly onto the surface a thin even layer of a well-stirred mixture of 1 volume water: 1 volume RonaScreed Primer: 1 volume of RonaScreed cement-based product that will then be used. The layer should normally be allowed to set for a few hours before work progresses.
Coverage: Approximately 6 sq. metres per litre of RonaScreed Primer.
Priming/Sealing exterior
For the simple priming/sealing of all cementitious and other surfaces particularly for exterior work, brush into the surface a thin even layer of a blend of 4 volumes water: 1 volume RonaScreed Primer mixed by thorough stirring. Allow the layer to dry slightly before applying RonaScreed flowable screeds.
Coverage: Approximately 30 sq. meters per litre of RonaScreed Primer (2 coats may be required on very porous surfaces).
Priming/Sealing interior
For the simple priming/sealing of most interior surfaces brush apply a thin even layer of a blend of 4 volumes water : 1 volume RonaScreed Primer mixed by thorough stirring. Allow the layer to thoroughly dry before continuing.
Coverage: Approximately 30 sq. meters per litre of RonaScreed Primer (2 coats may be required on very porous surfaces).
Non-Absorbent Surfaces
A most effective primer for all cement-based screeds, brush into the surface a thin even layer of undiluted/neat RonaScreed Primer. Allow to dry for a few hours before work progresses.
Coverage: Approximately 6 – 10 sq metres per litre of RonaScreed Primer, depending on surface porosity.
Anhydrite Screeds
Prime with 2 coats of RonaScreed Primer applied at right angles to each other diluted 1: 3 with water.
